Dayton Names New Chair of U.S. Bank Stadium Oversight Board
Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton has selected Mike Vekich, a CPA and veteran of many boards and commissions, to succeed interim Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA) Chairwoman Kathleen Blatz, reports the Minneapolis Star Tribune (July 13, Olson). The 69-year-old Vekich currently serves as president of the National Association of Corporate Directors-Minnesota. Observers say his appointment places U.S. Bank Stadium's oversight panel on firm ethical and governance ground. Problems persist, though. Stadium security contractor Monterrey Security remains under investigation by a state board, and Vekich must await two reports from Legislative Auditor James Nobles regarding MSFA finances and suite use.
