Herman E. BullsHerman E. Bulls currently sits on the boards of USAA, a provider of banking, insurance and investment management services to the military community, Comfort Systems, USA, Inc., a provider of heating, ventilation and air conditioning services and Rasmussen Inc., a post-secondary for profit educational services organization. Previous boards include Tyco International and CSC. He is also Vice Chairman, Americas, of Jones Lang LaSalle, an international real estate services firm, and founder of their Public Institutions business unit and Chief Executive Officer of Bulls Advisory Group, a real estate consulting and advisory firm. Previously, Mr. Bulls completed nearly 12 years of active duty service with the United States Army and retired as a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves in 2008. He is a member of the Executive Leadership Council, an organization of senior African American business executives from Fortune 500 companies, and former Chairman of the Executive Leadership Foundation. He is former Vice Chairman, West Point Association of Graduates Board of Directors. Mr. Bulls received a bachelor of science degree in engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a master of business administration degree in finance from Harvard Business School.
Rajiv GuptaRaj Gupta serves on the boards of Tyco, Vanguard Group, HP Inc. (formerly Hewlett-Packard Company) and Delphi Automotive. Mr. Gupta is the retired chairman and chief executive officer and former president of Rohm and Haas Company, a worldwide producer of specialty materials. He is also a senior advisor of New Mountain Capital LLC, a manager of private equity, public equity and credit funds with over $20 billion in aggregate assets under management. Mr. Gupta holds a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, an M.S. in operations research from Cornell University and an M.B.A. in finance from Drexel University.
Karen HornKaren Horn is a director of Simon Property Group Inc., and also serves as vice chair of the U.S. Russia Foundation for Economic Development and the Rule of Law, and as chair of the National Bureau of Economic Research. Horn is a former director of Norfolk Southern Corp., of Eli Lilly, and of T. Rowe Price Mutual Funds. She is a partner of Brock Capital Group and was a commissioner of the NACD Blue Ribbon Commission (BRC) on the Effective Lead Director and co-chair of the BRC on the Board and Long-Term Value Creation. Previous positions have included Head of International Private Banking for Bankers Trust, Chairman and CEO of Bank One, Cleveland, and President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. She has PhD in economics from the Johns Hopkins University.
Lauren E. SmithMODERATOR: Lauren E. Smith is a Managing Director of Diversified Search and President of NACD Florida. She is an NACD Governance Leadership Fellow. She has a passion for diversity in the boardroom and has worked with clients such as International Paper, Jacobs Engineering Corporation, Fifth Third and Navient to identify their unique needs and place the right board members. Before moving into executive search, Lauren had twelve years of experience leading marketing and strategy at two Fortune 500 companies - Westinghouse Electric Corporation and Motorola Inc. She has lived in Columbia, Eduador, Spain and France and is fluent in Spanish. She is a board member of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Board of Governors of the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business & Entrepreneurship of Nova Southeastern University. She previously served on the board and chaired the Board Development Committee of the American Red Cross South Florida Chapter.
