Sue KronickSusan D. Kronick was elected to Knight Foundation’s board of trustees in 2011. She is a member of the Program Committee. Kronick is the chairman of the board of trustees of Miami City Ballet and serves as an operating partner of Traub, a New York retail development consulting firm. She also is a former vice chair of Macy’s, where she was responsible for overseeing 850 Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s department stores, led one of the largest mergers in retail history and was instrumental in creating Macy’s as a national brand. She retired in 2010. Kronick’s community service has included serving on the boards of the United Way, YMCA, and Exodus Cities in Schools, a program for at-risk children. She has received numerous industry honors, including the Parson’s School of Design Award and the American Jewish Committee’s Human Relations Award. Kronick also has been involved in women’s health issues, initiating Macy’s first mammogram centers as early as 1996. In Miami, she co-chaired the 2011 opening gala of the New World Symphony. A former director of Pepsi Bottling Group, Kronick serves as a director of American Airlines Group and Hyatt Hotels Corp.
Ron WilliamsA veteran business leader, turn-around expert and advocate for value creation, Ronald A. Williams is the chairman and CEO of RW2 Enterprises, LLC. He is active in private equity as well as a director on corporate, public sector and non-profit boards. The former chairman and CEO of health insurance giant Aetna Inc. devotes his time and energy to helping future leaders with strategy, values-based leadership, public-private partnership and the continued transformation of the health care industry. Through RW2, Mr. Williams advises senior corporate executives on the development of strategy and on how to achieve transformational leadership grounded in core values, keys to successful board service. He coached 190 executives during 2015, and works with private-sector, public-sector and nonprofit groups to address critical societal needs, including how to transform American health care so that it creates more value for consumers.
Frank ScruggsMODERATOR: Frank Scruggs, Esq. has extensive experience as a corporate board member. Currently, he serves on the Boards of Directors of SunTrust Banks, Inc., one of the largest financial services companies in the United States, and Guidewell Mutual Holding Corporation, including its subsidiary, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, Inc., Florida Blue. At Guidewell, he chairs the board governance and nominating committee and serves as a member of the personnel and compensation committee. At SunTrust, he is a member of the Compensation and Risk Committees. Previously, he served as a member of the Board of Directors of Office Depot, Inc. As an attorney, Frank Scruggs advises companies and executives regarding employment law, conducts investigations for companies, and litigates employment and commercial disputes.
